Boards of Review

When a Scout has completed all of the requirements for a rank, the final step to get that rank is passing a board of review. The board verifies that the Scout has met all the requirements of the new rank by checking the Scout’s book for signoffs and questioning the Scout about details of the rank.

A board of review is made up of Troop Committee members only; no Boy Scouts sit on the boards. Eagle boards of review are a special process.  Talk with the Scoutmaster for more details on the Eagle review process.

For more information about boards of review, see the Troop 216 Board of Review Guidelines document.

Board of Review Reminders:

  • Complete your scoutmaster review before requesting the board of review.
  • Request a Troopmaster report from the Scoutmaster for the rank you are seeking.
  • Send an e-mail to boardofreview@troop216cary.org requesting a review. You will receive a reply e-mail confirming the exact review date.
  • Print out a Board of Review Form and fill out section 1.
  • PREPARE for your review! Review the requirements for the rank sought.  Be prepared to discuss them. Know the Scout Oath, Scout Law, Scout Motto, and Scout Slogan.  YOU WILL BE ASKED TO RECITE THESE.
  • Remember to wear a proper Class A uniform to your review, including scout socks!
  • Bring your Board of Review Worksheet, a Troopmaster report, and your Scout Handbook
  • Good luck!!
