Eagle Trip to Welding Shop

Ranger Rick ran a welding program at his place of employment (B. A. Hoft, a metal door and window frame manufacturer in RTP) for 7 of our Eagle Scouts.  Ranger had four welding stations set up and a clear work bench with privacy screens between them to protect the scouts from the welding flash.  Each scout had personalized instructions from Ranger.  The scouts practiced on a sheet of steel and then when they were comfortable, the “tacked” a vertical sheet of steel on the base steel sheet and welded them together.  The scouts welded their initials and some artwork into the steel base. Scouts Brian D, Gary M, Chris B, Mike B, Alex B, John C, and Thomas M attended.
